Did President Eisenhower meet with Extraterrestrial Aliens: Mystery Files

Updated on October 29, 2012

Eisenhower and Aliens

There are many fascinating stories that circulate in UFOlogy circles, from ancient astronauts to more modern anomalies, but few are more persistent that the rumour that in 1954, the then president of the USA, Dwight D. Eisenhower, had a number of meetings with members of an extraterrestrial race. It is a rumour that began to circulate shortly after the alleged meetings took place, and it has refused to go away, regularly surfacing from time to time.

The question is of course, is this rumour simply an invention of fevered imaginations, or is there something more substantial to the story?

What's the story?

Although there are slight variations to the story, they all tend to agree on the main locations and occurrences.

The most common version of the story says that President Eisenhower took an unexpected vacation to palm springs, and one evening during this vacation, so the story goes, he was spirited away to Edwards Air Force base, and it was here, under great secrecy where the meeting with the extraterrestrials took place.

The president was returned to Palm springs just before dawn, and it is said that shortly afterwards, he ordered that all information regarding UFOs be placed under the greatest secrecy.

what is the evidence?

It is known that the President did indeed make a trip to Palm Springs between the dates of 17th and 24th of February 1954. It begs the question whether this was a "vacation" or not, because not only had it appeared somewhat suddenly on the presidents calendar, but he had also only just returned from a quail shooting vacation in Georgia less than a week before.

It is also a matter of record that on the evening of Saturday February 20th, the president mysteriously disappeared from the vacation group. The president's absence created quite a fuss with the press, and the lack of a satisfactory explanation fuelled rumours that the president had been taken ill, or even died.

The press lines were staring to buzz and many newspapers were preparing to print the story when it was quashed by Press secretary James Haggarty, who announced that the president had simply dislodged a cap on his tooth whilst eating fried chicken earlier in the evening, and had been taken to a local dentist for treatment.

All a perfectly plausible story... Or was it?

Inconsistencies with the "Dentist" story.

On the evening following the incident, the President hosted a steak fry, where the local dentist in question was trotted out, and presented as the "man who had treated the President". All questions asked were answered with the official line of how the President had lost his cap and got it replaced by the local dentist.

As we can imagine, treating the president of the United States of America, and then being invited to a select steak fry afterwards as a "thank you" is going to be a pretty memorable event for any local dentist, and yet when the dentist's widow was interviewed about the incident in 1979 she displayed a flawless recollection of meeting the great and the good at the presidents steak fry evening, but her memory of the alleged treatment was vague in the extreme. She was unable to remember any specifics at all - not even what time of day the treatment took place!

It has been pointed out by more than one observer that this is the hallmark of a typical cover story - Incidents that actually happened are easily recalled, but cover stories (which have to be learned), fade from memory when they are no longer required.

Official "Thank you" notes.

Another curious anomaly concerns the documentation of the "Thank you" you notes which seem to have been sent out to everyone concerned with the trip.

there are a plethora of such notes on file, "Thank you"s sent out to the Minister who took the Sunday service, the people who met the presidents plane at the airport, even to people who offered their availability for a game of golf - but no message of thanks, or even acknowledgement of existence of the Dentist who "treated the president".

Medical notes

Perhaps the most obvious place to look for corroboration would be the Presidents Medical Record. The Eisenhower Library contains a detailed index of records pertaining to the health of the president. Extensive research has shown no evidence of any dental work being done at all during the entire year of 1954.

A separate file entitled "Dentists", also contains no record or evidence of the alleged treatment.

Recent revelations

Some interesting testimonies have arrived in the public arena recently that seem to back up the "alien contact" stories.

Former Government and Pentagon consultant Timothy Good recently appeared on the BBC television program "Opinionated" and stated that President Eisenhower together with select FBI officials actually met with extraterrestrial visitors on three occasions at the Edwards and Holloman air bases. There were, he says, "Many witnesses" to the meetings.

Mr. Good further stated that governments world-wide have known about, and been in contact with extraterrestrial visitors for "many decades".

The "Eisenhower brief"

Former Legislator and retiring State Representative to New Hampshire, Henry W. McElroy Jnr. broadcasted a public declaration that whilst in office at the State Legislature, he became privy to a briefing document advising president Eisenhower, that an opportunity was being presented for the President to meet with extraterrestrial visitors. That video broadcast can be viewed below:

What is the answer?

So, did the 34th President of the USA, Dwight D. Eisenhower, meet with extraterrestrial Aliens in 1954?

It is known that even in his public persona, the president had a strong belief in extraterrestrial life and was a keen proponent of the space program.

Released declassified files from the British Governments Ministry of Defence reveal how, during the Second World War, a British RAF fighter plane encountered a UFO, and how The Prime Minister Winston Churchill discussed how to deal with the matter, with (the then), General Eisenhower.

The result was that Churchill decided that the encounter must be covered up lest it cause "Mass panic"

So did it happen? Will we ever know? How much evidence is "enough"?

Those who believe will point to the facts above and say "of course it happened - what other explanation could there be, "whilst to the gainsayers no amount of evidence will ever be enough to prove the case.

In the end, we must all decide for ourselves.
